Marvel’s Kevin Feige revealed some new details about some of the studio’s upcoming superhero flicks, which include “Captain America,” “Thor” and “The Avengers.”
Talking about “The First Avenger: Captain America,” Feige revealed that the film will be a period piece, set in World War II and that Matthew McConaughey will not play the hero as previously rumored.
“The Avengers” movie is released just six weeks later, so will fans have to see the Captain America film to be able to understand what’s going on in “The Avengers”? “Each of them have to stand on their own,” he explained. “You won’t have to have seen any of the films to understand The Avengers… but it will help.”
Feige added that at this point, The Avengers are comprised of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and The Hulk. “This is three years down the line, so it’s a long way down the road,” he said. “But surely the Hulk is one of the core members.”
When asked if “Thor” will take place in the real world, Feige said: “It’s not the real world. The film is not all Asgard, but it’s a big chunk.”
The project is still looking for an actor and a director, who will be announced by the end of the summer. As far as the script: “I’m actually getting a new draft in a couple of weeks, but it’s the same screenwriter, Mark Protosevitch, who is continuing with some very good input that Matthew [Vaughn] gave us.”
