DC is happy to announce that we will again be conducting our Talent Search program at the San Diego Comic Con. What does this mean for aspiring comic artists? Well, it means that if you would like to have your work seen by DC’s top editors and art directors, from all our various imprints, then you should start planning a trip to San Diego and getting your portfolio together!
We can’t accept submissions sent to our offices, but you can submit at the convention and we’ll review ALL work the day it’s dropped off. We’ll then interview those who made the cut the following day. You’ll also have the chance to learn a ton and ask all of your burning questions at our Talent Search seminars.
SO, if you’re planning to attend the 2008 San Diego Comic Con at the San Diego Convention Center on July 24-27, THIS IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR PORTFOLIO SEEN!
Here are a few tips to help you prepare:
- You need to attend one of the DC Talent Orientation seminars at the Convention. They’re being held on Thursday from 10:30-11:30am, Friday from 10-11am and Saturday from 10:30-11:30am. You’ll learn what it means to work in the comic book business, and at DC in particular, as well as tips on being a successful pro from DC’s top editorial and creative executives.
- Read the Talent Search Guidelines - Complete the Talent Search Information Form. Your samples will not be reviewed without reading and signing this form and attaching it to your work!
- Get a head start on the process! Download the Guidelines and Information Form and prepare your samples before arriving at the Con. You should still attend the Talent Search seminar, but you’ll already have your samples prepared for drop-off at the DC booth. Remember, no originals please! Only copies of your work as we will not be able to return any work submitted. Be sure to completely fill out the Information Form and sign. (And no need to submit the instructional Guidelines! ☺) You must be prepared to drop off your work on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday and also attend the con the following day to be eligible for a one-on-one meeting.
We are only looking for the best artists out there but if you feel you’ve got the Right Stuff, we looking forward to seeing your work. Hope to see you (and your fantastic artwork) at San Diego!
