Yesterday, the Playmates Toys website posted a statement about a new, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Here is what they had to say:
“Following the success of the ‘TMNT’ theatrical release in 2007, Mirage licensing and Imagi studios have begun work on a new live-action TMNT film for 2010. It’s the turtles like you’ve never seen them before! Shellalicious!” [via /Film]
I’m not sure what they meant by “It’s the turtles like you’ve never seen them before,” since we have already seen three live-action films back in the early ’90s.
Now, the site has slightly edited their statement, with the words “live-action” now missing. Here is what it now says: “Following the success of the ‘TMNT’ theatrical release in 2007, Mirage licensing is in negotiations with several companies about a new TMNT movie for release in 2010.”
I’m guessing since the original statement said “live-action,” the idea is to have CG turtles in a live-action environment.
