Just when you thought that George Lucas couldn’t squeeze another penny out of the “Star Wars” franchise, he finds a new way of getting you to empty your wallets.
ComingSoon caught up with DreamWorks Animations CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who revealed that Lucas is looking to re-purpose the six “Star WarS” episodes into 3-D format. Katzenberg added that Lucas is extremely excited about this and that he’s got the technical resources to pull it off.
“He isn’t going to put a product out, I think, that isn’t anything other than first rate,” Katzenberg said.
Until Lucas finds the time and money to convert his films into 3-D, fans can satisfy their “Star Wars” addiction by checking out the animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in theaters on August 15th. The new movie will also set up an animated series that will premier on Cartoon Network in the fall.
