Anne Thompson of Variety reports that Warner Bros is currently trying to figure out what to do with the “Superman” franchise. The studio feels that the 2006 Bryan Singer-directed “Superman Returns” did not bring anything new to the table like Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins” did.
Thompson is being told that it is a priority at Warner Bros to find the right direction for the franchise. Everyone feels fine with Bryan Singer participation on the project, but if he gets in the way, he may be pushed out.
At this point, the general feeling is that it is better to completely ignore Singer’s movie. “It might be better to start from scratch,” one executive admitted. What this means for Singer and Brandon Routh is yet to be seen.
